A note on operator training and classification
Powered industrial trucks that lift loads fall under OSHA's operator training and certification requirements. Whether a given non-lifting vehicle falls inside or outside those requirements depends on how the vehicle is classified and on your jurisdiction — it is not something a vendor should decide for you. Confirm the classification of any specific vehicle with the manufacturer and with your own EHS team before deployment, and set your site training policy accordingly. The Misuse Audit
Tag one week of walkie-rider trips: pallet aboard, or not? Trips without a pallet — supervisors moving between zones, techs hauling toolbags, totes riding the forks — are paying lift-truck prices for taxi work. Shifting those trips to a non-lifting vehicle frees your lift equipment and certified operators for actual pallets, and often defers the next pallet-mover purchase.
Note the constraint when you run this audit: TexTrack carries up to 350 lbs on a fixed deck. Trips currently carrying more than that, or carrying anything that needs to be lifted, stay with the walkie rider.
When You Need Both
High-volume dock operations need walkie riders — nothing else moves pallets. The optimized fleet pairs them with a non-lifting vehicle for the people-and-parts layer: warehouse scooters for individual roles, burden carriers for loose loads, and tow configurations for repetitive cart routes.
